Advanced Resuscitation

HLTAID007 Provide advanced resuscitation

The course provides the skills and knowledge required to use specialised equipment in the provision of resuscitation. Training is conducted using the Oxy-Viva 3 Resuscitator or similar. (This course supercedes HLTFA404C Apply advanced resuscitation techniques).

Who this course is recommended for:

  • People who may be required to use specialised equipment to provide resuscitation in the workplace

    St John Ambulance recommends that you refresh your first aid training every 12 months. This is also in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines that state CPR skills should be refreshed every 12 months.

    Basic Emergency Life Support

    HLTAID002 Provide basic emergency life support

    This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to respond to life threatening emergencies, including how to respond to an unconscious casualty, and covers the use of an automated external defibrillator. (This course supercedes HLTFA211A Provide basic emergency life support )

  • Suitable for staff working in a range of different industries

    Caring for Kids First Aid

    This is a non-accredited course that teaches how to perform CPR, and how to manage bleeding, burns and a range of childhood related illnesses and injuries. Particular focus is given to asthma, choking, bites and stings. There are no assessments as part of this course.

    All participants will receive a Tiny Tots First Aid Kit, valued at $35.00.

    Certificate II in Emergency Medical Service First Response

    HLT21112 Certificate II in Emergency Medical Service First Response

    This qualification covers how to provide an emergency medical service first response across various industries. It is delivered by experienced St John paramedics and staff as an interactive program, which gives students the opportunity to learn in a simulated work environment with drills, exercises and industry specific scenarios.

    Certificate IV in Health Care (Ambulance)

    HLT41012 Certificate IV in Health Care (Ambulance)

    The Certificate IV qualification is designed to meet the needs of professionals who provide emergency response services within the mining, industrial or corporate sectors. Students will be learning within a replicated Industrial Medic situation, with simulated drills, exercises and industry specific scenarios.

    Community First Aid

    This is a non-accredited course covering first aid skills for a range of injuries and illnesses, and also covers CPR for adults and infants. There are no assessments as part of this course

    Who this course is recommended for:

  • People who would like to learn a broad range of first aid topics, and don't require formal certification or don't wish to complete any assessments
  • Parents/guardians

    First Aid Drills

    St John is able to conduct first aid drills to help your organisation put into practice existing first aid skills covered in prior training. This drill may be run on-site utilising your own first aid facilities.

    Who this course is recommended for:

  • First aid drills are designed for workplaces that already have trained First Aiders on-site and would like to maintain existing skills, processes and equipment.

    Online Course - Defibrillation Awareness

    Defibrillation Awareness is an online non-accredited awareness course that will provide participants with the basic knowledge and understanding of how to use a defibrillator in an emergency situation.

    St John recommends that all workplace first aiders who have formal responsibility for first aid in the workplace should also complete an accredited practical first aid course that covers the hands-on use of a defibrillator.

    Who this course is recommended for:

  • Anyone who has access to a defibrillator
  • Workplaces who have a defibrillator and would like all of their employees to know how to use it.

    • Prerequisites: None
    • Course Duration: 15 minutes
    • Cost: $10 per person

    Provide Advanced First Aid

    HLTAID006 Provide advanced first aid

    This course covers more advanced first aid topics, and will teach you how to manage an incident and other first aiders until medical assistance arrives. (The course supercedes HLTFA412A Apply advanced first aid).

    Who this course is recommended for:

  • First aiders in medium to high risk organisations

    Provide CPR Refresher

    HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

    This is an accredited CPR refresher course designed to refresh student's CPR skills and knowledge. The course covers practical assessment only; therefore students should have completed some prior training on this topic.
    Completion of a written pre-learning questionnaire is required prior to arrival at the class.

    Who this course is recommended for:

  • Those who are required to hold a current CPR certificate for work purposes
  • Those just wishing to refresh their CPR skills annually
